"Don't forget to lock the doors, _________!" Reminded your boss as he wrapped his coat around his shoulders and opened the door that let to the parking lot.
"I won't! Have a good night, sir!" You hollered back after locking your small locker which contained a few necessary items of yours.
You were a lifeguard at a local outdoor pool, as you may have already guessed, and today was Friday which meant that most people left early to go relax back home or just hang out somewhere else. Your boss had just left which meant that you were the only one remaining at the pool. You would have gladly gone home but since you were the last one to leave you were stuck with cleaning up.
"Ugh, I don't feel like doing this right now..." You complained to yourself as you eyed the locker room, which was a complete mess. Couldn't your fellow lifeguards be a little more organized?
"Maybe I should go check up on the pool first and make sure the gates are locked." You said to yourself as you began to head towards the gigantic pool outside. Once you got there, a big wave of heat washed over you despite the late hour of the evening.
"God, it's hot out here..." You looked around to make sure nobody was watching and slipped your white top off. Besides, you had your swimsuit underneath. No big deal. Anyways, you walked towards the supply room not too far away and grabbed one of those nets that helped get rid of the leaves in the water. As you made your way back towards the edge of the pool, you noticed something different. A pair of shorts lay a few feet away on the ground from where you were currently standing.
"What the?..." Mysterious ripples began to form on the water's surface and you began to wonder what was causing this. You knelt down and approached your face from the blue water to get a better look. And just when you thought you were imagining things...
"SURPRISEEEEE!" Shouted the person that had just randomly popped out of the water.
"EEEEEEEEEEK!" You fell backwards on your butt and dropped your cleaning net. When you looked back up, you noticed one of your friends, who was also a lifeguard, chuckling at your traumatized expression. He was floating on his back in the water, like he didn't have a care in the world.
"Not funny, Makoto." You mumbled while getting back up. He laughed and nodded.
"Oh come on, I was just messing with you!" You grinned but made sure to roll your eyes while you were at it.
"What are you doing here anyways? I thought I was the only one left."
"Well, I just waited in one of the stalls in the guy's bathroom until everybody was gone so I could be alone with you. And besides, I like swimming in the pool when there's nobody around. I find it peaceful." You blushed when he mentioned the being alone with you part.
"Well, guess what, cod fish? It's Friday, I'm tired, I still have the entire pool to clean and I want to go home. So could you please get out and let me do my job?" The brunette frowned at your sour attitude and pouted, knowing you couldn't resist his sad puppy face.
"Forget about work! Come in the pool with me instead! You need to loosen up, __________." You stared at him for a second, thinking about his proposition. Swimming sounded pretty nice right now... Plus, the heat was unbearable.
"C'mon, the water's great! Pleeeaaase?"
"Oh... fine!" You quickly pulled your shorts down and dove into the shallow area of the pool. Makoto watched you dive and admired your amazing form as your body came in contact with the blue water. Could you look more beautiful?
After a couple of seconds, you emerged from the water and inhaled a sudden and large amount of air. With one hand, you pushed your wet hair back and with the other you untied your ponytail, allowing your mane to flow freely.
"You were right, Makoto. The water does feel great." You flashed him a small smile and he quickly returned it. He began to swim his way towards you and only stopped when he was practically right next to you.
"You know, you should let your hair down more often. You look even cuter that way."
"O-Oh... Well, thanks. I guess." You blushed and looked away, unsure of how to respond to that. He chuckled and swam in circles around you, like a shark cornering his prey.
"What? I'm just telling the truth. Although you don't need to let your hair down to be cute. You're always pretty to me."
"What's with all the compliments all of a sudden?" You laughed nervously. Makoto noticed your shy side coming to life and decided to just be direct with you.
"I just thought telling the girl I love how beautiful she was would make her day. I've always thought that, __________. I just haven't said it out loud until now..." You let your hands fall to your side in the water and simply stared at him for a couple of seconds. Makoto bit his lip and looked the other way, feeling as though he had said too much.
"Makoto..."
"Uh, you know what, we should probably go now... If somebody catches us we might get fired-"
"WAIT NO!" You quickly launched yourself at him, wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him down so your lips could meet.
Makoto jumped at your sudden action, but after he realized what you were doing to him, he relaxed into the kiss and gently brought his hands to your waist to get a better hold of you as you pressed your lips together. They tasted a mix of chlorine and salt, but that just added to the excitement of the moment. Your fingers got lost in his thick brown locks and his quickened heartbeat thumped against your own chest. You broke the kiss before the lack of oxygen could make you faint. You both panted heavily and a bead of water rolled down his temple. You weren't quite sure if it was water or sweat. Either way, that didn't change the fact that you had just glomped your best guy friend in the middle of a pool while kissing him.
"I-I'm sorry, I just didn't want you to leave and-"
"I've been waiting for that kiss since 6th grade, __________." He laughed. You laughed along and looked up at the sky which was beginning to get dark.
"We should probably head back, it's getting late." Makoto pointed out.
"But I like it here! The water's nice." You joked. He chuckled before grabbing your hand and dragging you towards the edge of the pool.
"Don't worry, we'll have plenty of time to make-out in the locker room."

The First Time [Makoto x Reader]
-- The first time you met --
The first time you met Makoto you were a freshman in high school. Born and raised for most of your life overseas, you felt like a deer in headlights in your classroom after you were introduced. Although you were fluent and highly proficient in the Japanese language, bilingual in English and Japanese to be exact, everyone looked at you and treated you differently.
Recently, your parents brought up the bright idea of returning to their hometown of Iwatobi. You were adamantly against moving to another country and wanted to stay home. Unfortunately for you, you're now stuck in Japan.
You sat by yourself on the roof

Ever since Gou–, you mean Kou started being the manager of the Swim Club, you’ve noticed a few minor changes. Like the one time, Gou invited you to go swimsuit shopping… okay well, you probably should have guessed that one. On the other hand, that other time when you were going to get some pizza and the swim team and their old coach showed up ahh actually that time probably could have been pr
